Minecraft: Java Edition

Join the Minecraft server

About two minutes. You need Minecraft: Java Edition on a Windows, macOS or Linux computer.

Server address mc.sombrexo.com
  1. Get Minecraft: Java Edition

Install the official Minecraft Launcher from minecraft.net and sign in with the Microsoft account that owns the game. If you already play Java Edition through the launcher, you are set.

Java Edition only. Bedrock, console and phone versions of Minecraft can't join this server.

  2. Open Multiplayer

In the Minecraft Launcher, select Minecraft: Java Edition in the list on the left and click Play. When the game opens, click Multiplayer on the title screen.

No Multiplayer button? You started the Bedrock version; go back to the launcher and pick Java Edition.

The first time, a Caution: Third-Party Online Play screen appears. Tick Do not show this screen again if you like, then click Proceed.

  3. Add the server

Click Add Server and fill in:

    • Server Name: anything you like, such as sombrexo.
    • Server Address: paste mc.sombrexo.com with Ctrl+V, or ⌘+V on a Mac.

Click Done. The server now stays in your list for next time.

  4. Join

Double-click the server, or select it and click Join Server. If the server offers a resource pack, accept it.

If the server shows a red X with Incompatible version!, your game version differs from the server's. See the first item below.

If it doesn't work

Incompatible client! Please use …

Your game version is different from the server's. The message names the version to use (some servers say Outdated client! or Outdated server! instead).

In the Minecraft Launcher, open Installations, click New installation, choose that version, then create and play it. Join again.

You are not white-listed on this server!

Only approved players can join. Send the server owner your exact Minecraft username and try again once you've been added.

Can't connect to server or Connection timed out

Check the status at the top of this page. If it shows Online, check the address is exactly mc.sombrexo.com, then click Refresh in the server list.

School, work and some public networks block game servers; try another network. If it keeps failing, tell the server owner.

Unknown host or Can't resolve hostname

The address has a typo. Select the server, click Edit and re-enter mc.sombrexo.com with no spaces and no http://.

Failed to verify username! or Invalid session

Your sign-in expired. Close the game and the launcher completely, open them again, and rejoin. If it persists, sign out of the launcher and back in.

Multiplayer is disabled

The Microsoft account's privacy or family settings block online play, which is common on child accounts. The account owner needs to allow multiplayer in the Microsoft and Xbox privacy settings.

Your computer's clock is wrong. Turn on automatic date and time in your system settings and restart the game.
